Since winter 2015/2016, there has been no winter operation in the Taubensteinbahn area. The former ski resort now fully belongs to all kinds of ski tourers. Those who want to try ski touring without immediately climbing big mountains are well served at Rauhkopf.
Since there are also steep sections, you need to be able to ski reasonably well.
Author’s recommendation
Beginners who want to avoid the steep slopes directly at Rauhkopf can also ascend on the slope at the Upper Lochgraben to the Taubensteinsattel.

SchönfeldhütteSafety information
For the first steep rise, right on the slope, don't forget your crampons. Because beginners who awkwardly start sliding could find themselves a good way down in icy conditions.Roadbook
From the Taubensteinbahn parking lot, follow the former ski slope (or the ski tour route branching off to the left) steeply uphill, leave the slope above the right bend to the left, and continue over slightly steeper slopes under the Wilden Fräulein. The slope flattens, keep right and go slightly downhill past the Schönfeld hut. Then you can let your skis slide down the wide, gently sloping slope to the valley station of the cable car on the Rauhkopf. Afterwards, it goes gently uphill in a wide hanging hollow to the east and then turning right in switchbacks over a significantly steeper flank to the summit of Rauhkopf.
The descent runs along the ascent route up to the drag lift. Then keep left, follow a small road to the former slope that comes down from the Taubensteinsattel and turn right at Lochgraben. Those who now let the skis slide downhill at speed will get relatively far on the flat slope. However, no one will be able to avoid some pushing until finally reaching the last slopes of the Taubenstein descent, which you can easily ski down to the starting point.
