Roadbook
From Hinterer Härtleb about 1.5 km on a flat road to the last parking spot at Heinzl.
Here half-right, leaving the chapel on the left.
About 1.2 km gently ascending always to the right of the Moaralmbach to the beginning of the open meadow in front of Moaralm.
1 km flat continuing to the right, Moaralm huts on the left.
After another half kilometer, an alpine path branches off to the left, which leads directly into the Feldkar
(here we return to the ascent route again on the descent).
We take the overall flatter route and ascend with several stream crossings always on open meadows to the Tierkessel.
The small lakes in the Tierkessel are difficult to skirt in winter.
From the Tierkessel, we ascend higher on the left ridge to the Pustereckjoch.
Throughout the ascent from Moaralm and in the cirque of Pustereckjoch, there are often nice tracks, the Pustereckjoch alone is already a worthwhile destination with an easier descent.
From Pustereckjoch, briefly descend or traverse to reach the ridge to the pre-summit of Schönfeldspitz.
The ridge is often windblown; watch out for cornices.
Ascend on the ridge increasingly steeply to the pre-summit of Schönfeldspitz.
The last meters to the summit usually on foot.
We take the skis because we want to descend eastwards from the pre-summit.
A crossing to the Schönfeldspitz is well possible (about 1 km distance, 100 meters elevation), can be included but is hardly worthwhile as a descent.
Descent in good conditions:
From the pre-summit keep right northeastwards about 50 meters down to a ridge elevation.
From this ridge, very steep entry (briefly over 35 °, possibly wind-scoured) into the Feldkar.
Soon cross right, then straight down to about 1700 m. Keep right further until just before a hunting stand on a clearing (about 1620 m).
Here we should not continue straight ahead because this path runs through a wildlife quiet zone.
We cross left on the alpine path out to our ascent route on the open areas north of Moaralm.
Now flat over the Moaralm.
At the end of the open meadows, it goes down faster again to Heinzl.
Then flat, but still slightly descending to our starting point at Hinterer Härtleb.
Public transport
no public transport connection!Directions
From Pöls or Trieben to Möderbrugg and turn off towards Pusterwald. After the village, continue for about 8 km along the Pusterwaldbach until reaching the farm "Hinterer Härtleb".
This is the usual parking spot.
Then 2 km of gravel road to the driving ban at Hainzl, where there are only few parking spaces.
Parking
If more than 5 cars are already parked at Härtleb, you will almost certainly not find a parking space at Hainzl.
Park fairly – consider a parking fee for the landowner!
