Piston tip from Ulfas

From the car park, follow the road above the farm for approx. 300 m until you reach the signpost „ Kolbenspitze“. Now take trail no. 3 to the small alpine huts and continue to the new hut. Always turn left until you are under a rocky ridge. At 1980 m turn left over the ditch and up a ridge to 2500 m. Now take the steep slope diagonally left to the cairn with signpost, then up onto the shoulder, 2600m. From here in moderate steepness first straight, then sloping left under the ridge to below the summit cross. To the right, somewhat steeper, up to it. Descent: If there is enough snow, through the forest below the alpine huts and back along the ascent path. Otherwise always straight down the wide ridge to the Obere Ulfaser Alm, 1980 m. Now keep to the right and descend through a steep forest snow to the valley floor at 1600 m. Return via the alpine path – slightly uphill – to the car park.
