Most visitors approach the Pirchkogel from the east side via the Kühtai ski resort. The Pirchkogel is less frequently climbed from this side. This is likely because the ridges are often strongly windblown and crossing the north-facing final slope requires absolutely safe conditions. When conditions are right, beautiful long descent slopes await into the Feldringer Böden with plenty of space for your own tracks.
Author’s recommendation
After this beautiful long tour, it is recommended to interrupt the descent to stop at the rustic small Feldringalm.

Safety information
Crossing the north slope below the summit requires safe conditions.Tips and suggestions
The time specifications under the point "Duration" refer to the entire route including ascent and descent but excluding breaks.Roadbook
From the parking lot, follow the toboggan run for a short distance before reaching a right turn after about 20 minutes of walking. Now follow this hollow path uphill to a clear forest glade. Ascend this in many switchbacks. Soon the forest becomes a bit denser again and the trail winds through the trees with little elevation gain. Shortly after, the forest clears and you see a small wooden hut. Head towards it. Passing it, you reach the Feldringer Böden and see a beautiful hollow with the Faltegartenkögele rising on its left side. Cross the winter hiking trail and from now on keep always left (right or straight leads the trail to the Faltegartenkögele). From now on, you always have the Pirchkogel in view and head straight to the broad ridge descending from the summit. Pass under the high voltage power line and ascend over a short steep section to a cairn, the so-called Schafjoch. Here it flattens briefly before climbing the next ridge. This way you quickly gain altitude and soon reach the key spot. You have to cross a long north-facing slope (in two parts). Conditions here should be safe; otherwise, you should refrain from the final summit ascent, even if the summit cross is already within reach. Finally, after southwest, climb the last meters up to a notch and from there easily north to the summit cross. The highest point is not the cross itself but the point climbed from the Kühtai side. For this, you must ascend south from the notch.
The descent follows the ascent route, but the extensive slopes from the Schafjoch offer many variations. Soon you reach the Feldringer Böden again and through a small forest glade the rustic Feldringalm. Below the alm, continue over forest glades, shortening the toboggan run on the way down. The last meters lead back over the toboggan run to the parking lot.
