Brisk spring and late spring route on the Outer Bärenbartkogel.
Starting point is the parking lot at Melag (1950 m). The valley gently leads to the Melager Alm (1970 m). Flat further to the right of the creek up to the start of the moraine. From here there are three options: The direct ascent starts moderately steep, then getting steeper, going right over the Freibrunner Ferner, searching for the best path through the crevasse zone. Up the hollow to the right next to the moraine, then in a right curve onto the Bärenbartferner and over this first in the middle, then on the right edge up. At 3267 m elevation, you reach the ridge on the right and over this towards the southwest to the summit. Via the Weißkugelhütte (2542 m, staffed in spring – check beforehand!): Either on the summer path (mark no. 2) or left of the moraine through the valley left to the hut. From the hut a short piece towards Langtauferer Ferner, flat down to the right and then steeply up onto the Bärenbartferner. Continue as in ascent b). Descent: routes a and b Tip: If there are
