The starting point is at about 1,250 m below the Reit farmstead. The start is at the barrier in the last right curve on the Reiterberg. First, steeply up along a forest path. When you reach the farm road, go left continuing uphill towards south, south/east to the water reservoir. Here go right through the forest (shortcut) to a clearing and immediately afterwards you reach the Hiasleralm (approx. 1,850 m). The view to the south into the basin, to the Muhr saddle and Oblitzen summit automatically shows the further route according to the respective conditions. East-facing slopes should be avoided as slide avalanches occur there during daytime warming. Ascent variants: a) to the Muhr saddle and along the ridge to the summit b) crossing west below the Muhr saddle and then to the north/east-facing Brettleiten to the summit.
Descent: a) in safe conditions via the Brettleiten and the sparse larch forest to the Hiasleralm b) from the summit towards east towards the Muhr saddle, shortly before it across a ca. 35–40 degree steep slope into the Kegeleben basin. Continue to the Hiasleralm, a short stretch through the forest and the rest via the farm road to the starting point.
Directions
From the south via Tauern motorway, through the Katschberg tunnel, exit at the toll station towards St. Michael, turn left after the toll station in the S-curve towards Zederhaus, after about 700 m (after the village Höf) turn left again (south) towards Muhr, then drive about 11 km through the Muhr valley.Parking
In midwinter, some parking spaces near the Reit farmstead are cleared. In spring, parking is possible about 20 m lower than the Reit farmstead on the roadside.Coordinates
