Lodron 1925m from Rettenbach

The alpine path (toboggan run) to the right of the information board is climbed up to the wooded plateau. At the alpine buildings, we leave the road to the right onto a cart track. Now we walk flat along the left side of the Falberbach to the stream gorge and then right on the alpine path to the long-visible open alpine pastures. The slopes of the Scharlingtalalm are now climbed in wide arcs up to the narrow belt of forest. For a short distance, it gets a bit steeper through dense forest; above it, we enter the slopes of the Outer Hartkaser Alm. We climb southwest over it to the saddle between Hundskopf and Kartkaserjoch. At the saddle, we turn left and climb slightly east of the ridge in the light forest up to Hundskopf, a flat ridge elevation. Here the view opens over the broad open ridge to the summit. A short slight descent, then the ridge edge cornices on the right are approached with a gentle slope to the broad summit plateau of Lodron with a cross.

Descent along the ascent or earlier entry into the steeper eastern flank of Lodron and back to the valley via the Inner Hartkaser Alm.
