Forest and meadow ski tour for beginners and enjoyment seekers

What the Feldalphorn is in the Wildschönau, the ski tour on the Lodron means for the Kelchsau. An – with careful route selection – mostly avalanche-safe ascent over meadows and forest roads, which places few demands on the ski tourer. In contrast to its neighbor, the approach is somewhat faster, but the lower slopes thaw somewhat more quickly, as the starting point is almost 200 meters lower. The few belts of forest can be easily crossed on a forest road, and several clearings offer different variation possibilities for the descent. The only blemish is the start of the tour, which has become a bit cumbersome since the construction of the large car park at the toll station. You now have the choice between a short, somewhat tricky forest ascent and a flat skating section along the cross-country ski trail.
As two popular ascents to the summit also lead over the east side, it is advantageous on nice winter weekends that the extremely spacious summit offers plenty of space. The summit plateau is so large that we have already experienced in white-out conditions having to search for the summit cross for minutes. With good visibility, the ascent is absolutely without problems (and almost always tracked) and the view of the countless ski tours in the Kitzbühel Alps is magnificent.

Ascent Beyond the bridge, you reach a trail. We follow it a bit to the left (downstream) until we can climb a steep meadow to the right to a road. It then leads rightward to the upper farms. In good snow conditions, you can also reach them by a direct but wooded and more difficult to find ascent without a track a bit south of the bridge (variant). Then the forest road leads in several switchbacks (which can be shortened over meadows) and through a belt of forest to the Demmelshüttenalm. Another forest belt is crossed by a clearing going upwards from right to left, and soon we reach the Lower Lodronalm. The terrain becomes even flatter and we continue our track further east to the Lodronalm. The following steep section is bypassed widely to the right and over a beautiful wide slope we reach the spacious summit plateau.Descent Roughly along the ascent route. There is quite a lot of space in the summit area, so under safe conditions, skiing off almost anywhere is possible. In the middle
