Show elevation profileSafety information
The entire ascent from the valley floor takes place in steep to very steep terrain and within the catchment area of extreme steep slopes. Accordingly, the current avalanche situation must be taken into account. In spring conditions, due to the melt-freeze crust, there is also a risk of falling in a few sections - also on the ridge to the summit in case of overhanging cornices.Tips and suggestions

Roadbook
From the Alpengasthof Kasern, first moderately steep about 3 km southeastward upstream into the Kaserer Winkel up to an altitude of 2000 m. Now no longer further into the valley floor but steeply ascending to the left over a weakly pronounced ridge, which is bounded on the left by a gorge or a watercourse. We leave the ridge at about 2400 m to the left into the bottom of a ravine that leads us upwards into the large basin of the former Kaserer Ferner. Continue upwards through this, always quite directly towards the summit, up to an altitude of 2900 m. Here we use a terrace that leads us out to the right onto a ridge, which we follow to the west ridge. Over this ridge, which is often overhanging to the south (!), to the summit.
Descent: Essentially the same as ascent. Depending on the conditions, you can find very nice lines on the orographic left of the ascent track.
