From the parking lot follow the forest road, past the Teufelskirche (impressive rock formation on the right across the stream), past the forest house Bartltalhütte (658m), until around 700m a prominent rock gorge appears, where you then ascend. It takes about 1 hour with only 200 m elevation gain to reach here. We leave the ravine and a steep ascent follows upwards on the left, depending on snow conditions on foot or with skis. Crampons may already be advisable. After about 100 m elevation gain, a clearing is reached and then initially a slight ascent continues, further north, always keeping left of the dwarf pines and getting steeper until the summit of Hochsengs (1838m).
