Hintere Eggenspitze

Starting point to the Hintere Eggenspitze is the parking lot just before the Weißbrunn reservoir (1879 m) in the rear Ultental. Follow the path beside the lake to the building of the industrial cable car leading to the Grünsee. Continue straight ahead on the right and follow the summer path on the right side of the creek going valley inward. Up a slope to the right of the dam wall. There lies the Höchster or Grünsee hut (2561 m); about 2:00 hours to here. Enter on the right side above the reservoir – steep crossing! – and above a ledge into the left valley. Climb up this until you reach the start of the summit ridge to the right (ski depot). Left over the rocky summit ridge to the highest point of the Hintere Eggenspitze. Descent: same as ascent. In spring you can also descend under the summit slope, keeping right, through a ridge gap into a gully and then reach the dam wall at the southwest end of the reservoir. Straight down a steep slope to the valley floor and the parking lot.
