The access is from the Pustertal valley between Welsberg and Niederdorf into the Pragser Valley and at the junction in Außerprags turn left towards Altprags and over Brückele to the Plätzwiese (parking available). From the car park past the Plätzwiesenhütte and before the Hotel Hohe Gaisl, uphill to the west to the ridge of the Helltaler Schlechten, then following the ridge more or less northwards to the Große Pyramide. The descent is along the ascent route.
