Haselspitz is a very fine ski route with forest powder, especially suitable with a lot of new snow and bad weather conditions. But also highly recommended in nice weather due to the coniferous forest atmosphere (and mostly quiet).

Very beautiful route over meadows and forest to a summit in densely wooded terrain. Descent in the upper part like the ascent, below over a clearing and in forest powder back to the starting point. Surprisingly much descent enjoyment in the well-ridable forest.

Great route video by Reinhard Bayer on Youtube!

    Author’s recommendation

In good weather conditions, Hohe Student can be "taken along".

    Safety information

Also doable in new snow and bad weather conditions. In poor visibility conditions, you can get seriously lost in the summit area as the summits only become visible shortly before reaching them and there are no distinctive viewpoints.

    Roadbook

Shortly before the Hönbichler farmstead (parking lot on the right after the small bridge), go a few meters on the driveable path, then right across a meadow to a forest road that runs along the right edge of the meadow. Then into the forest until shortly before a clearing. Either ascend above this keeping right, or through the forest on the right to a ridge and keep ascending along it. Again on a clearing, then increasingly steeper uphill in the high forest. Staying on the right side of the ridge (the left side is steeper) until you reach another clearing (about 1200m). After this, the hiking trail from Halltal joins from the right. A forest road is crossed and continue uphill into the forest until shortly another forest road is reached. Follow this slightly uphill to the south. Beautiful deep views into the Halltal and the opposite mountains.

The road flattens increasingly, the marked turnoff to Haselspitz/Hohe Student on the left side is passed, continue straight to a beautiful clearing. At this, turn left to a hollow. There are two clearings uphill (towards the east). On one of these or in the beautiful high forest uphill to the sub-peak (just under 1,500m) of Haselspitz or the Hohe Student. At the end over open areas created by windthrow. From the summit a few meters downhill with skins and approach Haselspitz (1,534m) from the south.

Descent as ascent, whereby the beautiful clearings from the sub-peak are recommended for descent enjoyment. Then push a bit back on the forest road until the hiking trail is left again. Shortly afterwards, on the open area, do not go as on the ascent over the steep forest ridge, but right (east) in the best powder over open areas to a ravine. On its orographically right side (in viewing direction) downhill in the beautiful high forest until you reach a forest road again. With sufficient snow cover, continue leftwards in the ravine or follow the forest road to the left until you come to a beautiful clearing and there glide downhill to the right. In both variants you meet a forest road again, follow it to the right, until the beautiful meadows above the Hönbichler farmstead become visible. Descend these to the parking lot.
