Ascent via Zeiringeralm, descent via Grössingeralm.
A circular route that can still be done even with higher avalanche danger.
On days with greater avalanche danger, one should not take the usual approach to Gscheideggkogel via Ebner-Klamm and Schröckalm.
Then the ascent described here via Zeiringeralm is recommended.
This ascent is also interesting because it is not attempted by as many tourers.
When ascending via Schröckalm, the first part is the same route used as an approach to Stadelfeldschneid, Gsuchmauer, and Lugauer.
For descent, I recommend here the descent from Gscheideggkogel via Grössingeralm. Be prepared for steep, forested slopes.
Here we have good chances to find untouched powder snow.

Variant for the tireless:
At http://alpenvereinaktiv.com/s/Gvwkc I present a larger Gscheideggkogel round under Gscheidegg-Kogel and Schafböden.
With this route, the descent (but also the ascent) can be extended by 400 beautiful meters of altitude.
For this, from the summit of Gscheideggkogel, descend the nice slopes towards Radmer to a forest road at 1350 m altitude, descend another 40 meters to the right on the forest road and then skin up at 1320 m altitude.
Then follows the ascent to Schafbödenalm (1560 m) and further along the ridge up to 1720 m. Then the descent to Grössingeralm and further down as described above.
Derived from the technical difficulty and the stamina requirements.

Tips and suggestions
Very good dining and overnight accommodation options in the climber's village Johnsbach:
- Kölblwirt at the starting point to Hochtor and Festkogel.
- Donnerwirt near the Johnsbach mountain church.
- Pension Ödsteinblick.
Roadbook
From the parking lot above Gscheidegger, we walk 300 m on the path towards Leobner (Grössingeralm).
Then follow the signs to Zeiringeralm on the left (ski markings exist up to Gscheideggkogel!).
Across the meadows of Zeiringeralm to the edge of the forest, then the path runs very gently for 1 km to the left (= northeast).
Just before the meadows of Ebneralm, turn right and follow a ridge until the ascent path from Ebner-Klamm or Schröckalm joins from the left.
The path is well marked; we ski tourers should stay along the markings and not enter the eastern wildlife sanctuary zone.
Through increasingly sparse forest southwards, finally somewhat steeper to the cross on Gscheidegg-Kogel.
Descent:
The choice of descent can be postponed until the summit.
The descents on the ascent path or to Ebnerklamm are easier than the descent via Grössingeralm.
For a descent to Grössingeralm, go about 300 m along the ridge southwest, then descend right to Grössingeralm.
Along the way, several forest roads are crossed, which can also be used (flat) to reach Grössingeralm if needed.
From Grössingeralm, continue descending along the stream to the parking lot.

Public transport
No really good public transport connection.
Gesäuse shared taxi: (0043) 3613 21 000 99 I haven't tried it in winter yet!
Directions
From Gesäuse road B146 (Hieflau - Admont), turn off 4 km west of Gstatterboden southwards towards Johnsbach. After the church/Donnerwirt continue downhill, past Kölblwirt and the ski lift.
About 1.5 km after the ski lift (1 km before the Gscheidegger farm) at the bridge and creek mouth, parking lot "Ebnerklamm".
It is possibly possible to go another 1 km further: past the Gscheidegger farm (no parking here) steeply up to the weir at the creek - on this section, snow chains may be necessary.
Parking
Mostly free parking on weekdays, it could be tight on weekends!Coordinates
