Via the Gamsgrubenweg and the low-crevasse Southern Bockkarkees past the Oberwalder Hut on the right northwards to the Bockkarscharte and over the Northern Bockkarkees to the Keilscharte. Now at or just below the ridge edge, head eastwards to the summit.

    Author’s recommendation

If you choose the Oberwalder Hut as a base, several nice high mountain ski routes can be undertaken.

    Roadbook

Through the show tunnel you reach the Gamsgrubenweg, which rises gently past the Hofmann Hut and finally descends slightly to the Wasserfallwinkel (steep crossing of the south-facing cliffs of the Fuscherkarkopf). Now over the southern Bockkarkees below the rocks of the Hoher Burgstall, moderately steep northwestwards uphill. Going around the rocks to the north, you ascend to the Oberwalder Hut on the summit plateau of the Hoher Burgstall. We, however, follow the Upper Bockkarkees in a wide right curve into the hollow that leads up to the Bockkarscharte. Beyond the notch, we cross the basin of the Northern Bockkarkees at a moderate incline. A ridge of the Middle Bärenkopf is bypassed on the right and climbed steeply but pleasantly to the Keilscharte. A small ridge hill is bypassed to the north. Depending on the snow conditions, you then hike with skis or on foot along the usually corniced west ridge, first steeper to the west summit and then flatter, somewhat exposed but not difficult directly to the Weißer Bärenkopf summit. The summit offers a beautiful view over the northern Glockner 3000-meter peaks.

Along the ridge back to the Keilscharte and over the Northern and Southern Bockkarkees back to the Wasserfallwinkel and mostly on foot via the Gamsgrubenweg to the Franz-Josefshöhe (or cross flat high in the Southern Bockkarkees to the Oberwalder Hut).
