The route climbs across beautiful unobstructed farm meadows, then again along forest aisles. Light larch forests with small huts alternate with forest passages. This tour does have quite a few metres in altitude to conquer. But the time flies by. A little above the Meranzalpe and after overcoming a last belt of forest, a breathtakingly wide landscape opens up with countless possibilities for the descent. Only the summit ridge requires increased concentration. However, the anticipation of the downhill fun quickly makes you forget the exertions of the ascent. Last but not least, the remarkable view is worth mentioning. The Glanderspitze, the highest point on the free-standing Venet massif, offers a breathtaking panoramic view.

Safety information
Very safe tour. The only thing to watch out for on the summit ridge is the overweighing on the ascent. The direct descent from the summit via the SW slope should only be attempted in safe conditions.Tips and suggestions
The times given under "Duration" refer to the entire tour including ascent and descent, but without breaks.Roadbook
From the small car park in the hamlet of Grist, cross the road and walk between a farmhouse and a farmhouse towards a large meadow. Cross this meadow and walk up to the edge of the forest. After a very short stretch through the forest, you immediately come to the next meadow. You now walk uphill across several sections of meadow, interrupted by short forest passages. The gates at the end of the meadows are all open in winter so that you can walk unhindered. The forest soon thins out and you walk across beautiful larch-covered meadows. The Meranzalpe is reached in about 1.5 hours. There is another steep step to overcome above the alp. However, this is completely safe as it is again covered in dense vegetation. Once you have overcome this passage, you reach the open areas below the Glanderspitze. You now head straight towards a saddle on a pleasant incline. Once you reach it, turn left towards the east. The summit of the Glanderspitze is not yet visible from here. Before that, there are a few smaller elevations to overcome along the ridge. Finally, you reach the broad west-facing summit slope and climb a little more steeply to the highest point with a simple summit cross.
The descent follows the ascent track, whereby the extensive terrain, especially below the saddle, allows for several variations. Depending on the conditions, steep powder descents are also possible here. From the Meranzalpe, the route then takes you back to the starting point via forest tracks and meadows.
