We start at the Grüntalkapelle and hike up the toboggan run. Two hairpin bends can be shortened along the Wieseneggbach. Past the Knappenhaus ruins, we reach a junction: the toboggan run leads left up to the Bochumer Hütte, but we continue straight into the flat valley to the Niederkaseralm. Behind it, we turn left into the gully, cross it to the right, and ascend the steep section diagonally to the open alpine pasture. We follow this wide forest clearing almost arbitrarily up to the alpine road, which we follow to the right up to below the Oberkaseralm. Now we cross into the wide hollow leading to the Tor. The striking rock and the central groove are bypassed on the right. Finally, it goes up in a few hairpin bends to the saddle with the Tor cross. Slightly ascending, it goes around the rocky eastern ridge of the Gamshag. Very steep open slopes lead up to the right to a gap in the rock band. Behind it, one crosses slightly ascending steep south-facing slopes into the summit cirque. If you want to bypass this steep section, descend slightly from the Tor past the Toralm to a wide rock gap and ascend gently in a right curve around the rock spurs to the Torsee. Soon the cirque becomes steeper; we reach the junction of the steep variant. The summit cirque is ascended on its right side to the eastern ridge. Along the ridge, it goes up in short hairpin bends to the long-visible summit cross.
Descent along the ascent route including variants. From the Tor, you can also descend directly into the upper valley end under the rocky flank of the Gamshag to the right of the deep gully.
