Only with good snow conditions are the dwarf pines at Schafplan sufficiently covered.
The combination of Mühlauer Sattel and Mitterberg is rewarding.
At the parking lot there are changing facilities and toilets.

From the parking lot at the Biathlon Center Rosenau, initially follow the forest road valley-inward. At a fork, follow the marked hiking trail (625) straight ahead through beautiful, not too dense mixed forest towards Laglalm. Continue northwards to Schafplan. Here, with as little altitude loss as possible, slightly hilly, pass on the left past Mitterberg towards Frauenscharte (clearly noticeable V-shaped notch in the left north faces of the Haller Mauern). Finally steeply to the notch. Here a magnificent view towards the cross-country ski trails of Hall bei Admond.
Then a short descent followed by an ascent to the ski depot of Mitterberg. For mountaineers, a summit ascent is possible (steep and partly brittle).
Return directly along Mitterberg. Then descend near the ascent track.

From Windischgarten to Rosenau by OÖVV bus 435.Directions
Via the A9 to Windischgarsten/Roßleithen. Then through Windischgarsten towards Hengstpass. After the first tunnel turn right – to the Biathlon Center Innerrosenau. Continue along the road to the large parking lot.Parking
