Fahrenbergkopf - ski route at Herzogstand
Selected alternatives for you
The ski route is relatively easy but includes a few steep sections. It is especially rewarding when no piste operations are running (on weekdays).

The ski operation at Herzogstand is not really financially worthwhile, which is why the ski lifts operate only on weekends, during holidays, and on public holidays. On weekdays, the mountain is left to the ascenders. The destination can be the Fahrenbergkopf or just the managed Herzogstandhaus. Herzogstand itself can also be skin-tracked with high snow levels, but the descent through the dense mountain pine thickets is not really enjoyable. Moreover, these slopes host sensitive nature that should not be disturbed for an unpleasant descent. They can also be threatened by avalanches.
Author’s recommendation
With a high snow level, you can follow the cross path northwest from the Herzogstandhaus toward Herzogstand (beware of avalanche risk!) and ascend from the saddle below Herzogstand to the left to Martinskopf (1675 m).

From the parking lot, head briefly north and turn left onto a narrow road (riding path). It leads with moderate incline through the forest and reaches the ski slope at the high-voltage line. Now ascend the slope with varying steepness, whereby the unpleasant steep sections can be bypassed via a vehicle track.
Just before reaching the Schlehdorfer Alm, the slope flattens significantly. The ascent route swings around below the Herzogstand summit on the vehicle track into the steep slope below the Herzogstandhaus and directly up to the mountain house.
Those who turn left shortly before Herzogstandhaus can ascend eastward to the antenna masts and the top station of a small drag lift. This detour ends at the summit chapel on Fahrenbergkopf.
The descent essentially follows the ascent route.
