The Fähnerenspitz lies between Appenzell and Rheintal and forms the northeastern end of the Alpstein. The pyramid-shaped wooded and meadow summit is a beginner-friendly ski touring destination. Easy ski routes lead from Brülisau, Hirschensprung, and Eggerstanden to the summit. The most snow-secure option is from Eggerstanden on the north side. The summit offers a nice view of the Hoher Kasten and Säntis.
