6.15 a.m. start in the rearmost Pfunderer valley at the Luzer farm near the hamlet of Dun at 1550m. We follow the forest road (no. 13) to the Egger-Bödenalm and then head directly over an avalanche slope into the valley cut on the snow-covered Eisbruggbach stream. With many short hairpin bends we go up to a place where we can finally cross the stream. The “right” path leads a little to the left of it to the so-called Drosse (small wooden hut). After a steep gully, we come to the flat Eisbruggtal, where we immediately move up to the left again. On the Ausserwanden we always keep quite high and cross many old avalanche slopes above the Eisbruggalm. Our goal, the Östlicher Hochwart, has been in our sights for a long time. After the Valsscharte (2451m) two steep uphills follow, which later became perfect firn. Through the Obervalskar we pull the track to the left to the Joch between the Westlichen and Östlichen Hochwart. With the good snow conditions today, we even make it to the
