The tour starts at the parking lot in front of the town sign "Gmünd-Gerlos". At the parking lot, you can usually start directly with ski tour skis via the forest road that begins east of the parking lot heading south. Then it goes up to an altitude of about 1500 m. Then the tour branches off the path to the left into the still recognizable old track of a former ski slope. This track is already quite overgrown. At an altitude of about 1600 m, it then goes uphill in a right curve through the meadow area below the Fürstalm. The tour then passes to the right of the Fürstalm. Afterwards, keep slightly left and then go uphill in a large gentle left curve to the Arbiskogel.

    Author’s recommendation

The tour is one of the few that is usually feasible even at avalanche warning level 4.  See safety notes below.

    Safety information

At an altitude of about 1420 m, there is a small steep slope above the forest road (see photo). This should be carefully observed at avalanche warning level 4. Depending on the amount of snow, a slab avalanche could be triggered here.
