From the Tauplitz mountain station or Linzer Tauplitz hut eastwards to the Steirersee alpine huts. Ski down to the Steirersee. Cross it and then ascend to the Schwarzsee. Pass the Leistalm hut on the right and follow path 209a to the Kamphütten huts. After about 500m, turn left and ascend northeastwards (following path 277) to Almkogel.
Either leave skis in the depot just below the summit or ski to the summit if conditions are good.
