Long spring and late spring route to the Aglsspitze with high alpine character.
Starting point is the parking lot in front of the bridge to the Steinhöfe (1375 m). On the forest road up to just before the Ochsenhütte (1690 m). Stay on the left valley side and go upstream to the height where the brook comes from a gorge on the right. If there is enough snow in the gorge, walk up through it to the end; if not, go up the slope on the left and at 2010 m turn sharply right across a flat area to the upper part of the gorge. Continue up the gorge until it ends. Now cross open areas slightly to the left and up a long, gently defined ridge straight up until you reach a small saddle (2650 m). From there continue flat until you reach the Feuersteinferner. Keeping slightly right over a ridge right of the crevasses climb onto the glacier. In the middle of the glacier basin, first walk a longer flat stretch, then over a moderately steep slope to the Magdeburger Scharte (3110 m). With good snow conditions you can ascend a short section on skis on the left of the steep ridge.
