Excellent route carried out on firm snow with good snowfall down to the lower altitudes. The ascent to Val Mattio allows an easy detour to Schliverai Spitz (2432 m), thus connecting the two main summits of the area.

Ascent: Follow the signs to the summer path to Fregasoga (No. 407) up to the hairpin bend at 1610 m, then stay on the forest road which turns right. When reaching Baracca della Val Mattio (1697 m), continue ascending near the stream. From the 2100 m high promenade go along the ridge on the shoulder towards the southeast, lower than Passo di Val Mattio (watch out for wind accumulations). After leaving the ridge, briefly head towards Monte Baitol (northeast direction), then descend on the opposite ridge to Passo Scalet (skins should be removed). Continue on the exposed southwest ridge (watch out for frames on the left) up to a flat shoulder (2390 m elevation) and then to the summit. Descent: Back to Passo Scalet to Val Fregasoga (with perfect snow from 2390 m height it is possible to ski directly into a gully on the northwest side; difficulty level O. S.). Follow the valley down to an elevation of 1690 m where you find path No. 407, which shortly after goes uphill again.
