The route starts at the parking lot in the center of Ajdovščina, next to the famous remains of the Roman fortress Castra. We continue along the promenade across the bridge over the Hubelj River, heading east, to the first intersection and then left in the direction of the Hubelj spring. For a warm-up, a short climb soon awaits us, ending at the karst spring of this cold river, which the ancient Romans already named Hubelj. From there, the road descends into the village of Lokavec, where we begin to ascend steeply towards Predmeja. On the 8 km long climb, we will overcome an altitude difference of 700 m. In between, on a newer section of the path, the slope eases a bit. At the fountain where you can refill fresh water, the climb becomes steep again. A little below the summit, we reach the steep rocky slopes of Čaven. There, the road narrows and takes us through hand-carved stone tunnels. Soon we reach Predmeja, where we follow the signs directing us right towards Col. After a few bends, we arrive at the viewpoint near the Mother of the Gorička monument, where we get a beautiful view of the upper Vipava Valley and the Nanoška plateau in the background. From there, the road winds from village to village across the Gora plateau. In the village of Kovk, you can detour from the route and climb up to Sinji vrh, where you will be rewarded with a view of the entire Vipava Valley, the Karst, and the Adriatic Sea. On the path from the village of Kovk towards the village of Gozd, we will encounter the karst phenomenon of "škraplje," elongated grooves in the limestone formed by flowing water. Škraplje are a natural monument of national significance. From there, the route descends through the village of Gozd towards Col, where we turn right towards Ajdovščina. From Col, there is an 8 km long descent to Ajdovščina.
