In a natural development of route 1, a passage through Praia do Almoxarife and an ascent to the Caldeira were added, a must-see for anyone visiting Faial, which makes this adventure much tougher, but undoubtedly compensated by the beauty of the landscape, besides the challenge of climbing one of the highest points of the island.
We advise conserving energy for the final part, as we are talking about an ascent with an elevation gain of almost 1000 meters, understandably for practitioners with good physical ability. In case of giving up on this ascent, it is always possible to follow route 1.
