Leisurely road bike route through the mountains of the Salzach valley
We start our route directly from the Hotel Alpendorf and ride to St. Johann. From there, it continues over the old federal road via Schwarzach and Lend. At the end of Lend, we turn right towards Dienten am Hochkönig. From here, it goes slightly uphill to Dienten. At the end of Dienten, we turn right again towards the Dientner Sattel. From here it gets a bit more demanding. But after about 20 minutes we reach the highest point of the Dientner Sattel at 1370 m. From here awaits us a winding steep descent. We ride through the town of Mühlbach and then again continue over the winding road to Bischofshofen. From Bischofshofen we ride along the old federal road towards St. Johann. And from St. Johann back to Alpendorf.
Author’s recommendation
It is best to ride the route clockwise, as it is extremely steep from Mühlbach up to the Dientner Sattel.
Derived from the technical difficulty and the stamina requirements.
