Discover the valleys of the Bresle and Liger with alternating woods and orchards.
This area gave birth to the chair industry. Chair making is linked to the land by the wood used. While the chairmaker was assembling his chair, his wife was brought the rush chairs, this circuit is named after them "Chès Pailleuses". Departure from Hornoy le Bourg, Place du Pré, at the foot of the 16th-century church and market halls, head towards the associated commune of Bézencourt. There, make a detour to the museum of remembrance of the Alpine hunters which adjoins a small church; a military square in the communal cemetery houses the remains of hunters. You can also see a brick and stone castle. Continue your route to Brocourt, a village situated around a ford on the Liger. Cross a wood to reach Beaucamps-le-Vieux, with its chair and furniture festival showcasing the local producers' know-how. Continue to Beaucamps-le-Jeune, admire the brick castle with four towers. Cross the state-owned forest and, upon exiting, enjoy a beautiful viewpoint over the Bresle valley. Reach St Germain sur Bresle, then with effort you will reach Neuville Coppegueule, named after the feared presence of highway robbers. Descend to St Aubin Rivière, a flowered village with a wattle and daub church and a water mill on the Liger. At Le Quesne, you will see the feudal motte of Arguel. At the top of the hill, make a round trip to Arguel and reach the mound; a calvary stands on the site of an old keep, offering a wonderful panorama of the Liger valley. Head to Liomer, where sheep herds were once driven to summer pasture on the larris, a practice now extinct. Pass Brocourt to return to Hornoy le Bourg.
