Way of the Book, 7th stage: Fresach - Stockenboi

You leave Fresach heading south on path 95, passing the Protestant church and the diocesan museum. The path is initially paved, later turns west into a forest road and finally continues as a narrow path steeply descending following a gas pipeline down to the Drau river. You cross the river, turn right onto the toll road which shortly turns right again over a parking lot leading to the Drau cycle path and then walk along the southern bank of the river to Mauthbrücken. Here you cross the Drautal federal road and follow the sign to the Mauthner guesthouse. Directly at the guesthouse the path branches off left, following a steep farm road. After about 10 minutes of climbing, you reach the underpass of the Tauern motorway, which you follow to the right. Again turning right, you follow a forest road which you leave left after about 5 minutes and soon reach the village of Ziebl. The path continues to Zlan and Gassen and from there to the Stockenboi state road. You follow this to the right. The path leads past the master blacksmith Steiner and the Ladstätter guesthouse to the Mesner bridge and further towards Stockenboi.
