Pilgerwege Frankreich
This stage in the Dept. Hérault (34) also leads us through sparsely populated areas. Starting from Lodève, a pedestrian bridge crosses the Soulondrus river, and to the right, we see the old "Pont de Montifort." We steadily ascend via forest roads and enjoy a nice view back to Lodève as well as the southwest-located reservoir "Lac du Salagou."
Shortly after the halfway point of the stage, we reach the D35 and follow it briefly until the "Col de la Baraque," where we branch off northwards again. Over some heights, we reach the hamlet of Bernagues, from where we descend in long serpentine curves and finally ascend a little towards Joncels at the end.
Of the former Benedictine abbey (7th century), only the "Eglise Saint-Pancrace" and remains of the cloister still exist.
