Today's stage takes us southwest along the Fiume Bidente «uphill» to the stage town of Santa Sofia and ends there at Piazza Garibaldi. It will demand about 500 meters of ascent and bring us to an altitude of almost 400 meters above sea level, thus preparing us for the upcoming real mountain stages in the Apennines.
Santa Sofia is on the «Via Romea Germanica», at least in the years 201x, the seat of the Italian project team that, together with a German project team, has revived this historic path.
