Pilgerwege Italien
Today's hiking day in the province of Pavia is also dedicated to Lomellita, the rice-growing region around Vercelli. Perhaps today we will take the opportunity to visit one of the farms where rice is threshed, freed from husks, cleaned, and stored. The rice fields with their elaborate irrigation facilities are the capital of Lomellita, and the harvest is the annual yield. No wonder "risotto" is a typical Italian dish.
On our way, we come across the small village of Nicorvo, which offers us catering options. Shortly before, we cross the Torrente Agogna, the watercourse that provides irrigation for most fields in this section. At the stage destination Mortara, we find the church "di San Valeriano," which was once part of a monastery. The Romanesque church "di San Pietro" from the 12th century is worth seeing for the frescoes inside from the 16th century.
