Via Aurelia: Saint Raphaël - Le Muy
Pilgerwege Frankreich
Today's stage is almost as long as that of the previous day, but it is much flatter and therefore we will need less hiking time. After a section along the beach of Fréjus at the very beginning of the stage, we will leave the coast of the Mediterranean. This is thus the last contact with the Mediterranean on our way to Arles or Santiago; the rest of the hike will take place inland.
At the start of this stage, we will also encounter traces of the Romans, first in Fréjus in the area where the Roman harbor once was, although today this region is already quite far from the coast. Later, we will also come across the ruins of a Roman amphitheater.
Beyond Puget-Sur-Argens, we will hardly find any notable settlements until the stage destination, so it is advisable to replenish necessary supplies here at the latest.
