Taste Trails | Via Romea Germanica
The Via Romea Germanica has a very long history: legend has it that Albert of Stade took the opportunity, thanks to his travels between Saxony and Rome to meet the Pope, to tell and transcribe about his long journeys to Italy. In his writings he gave a whole series of "useful" information to better organize a journey that - in the 1200s - was very complex: he therefore indicated the best stops, the roads to take, the distances of the individual stages in a route that connected - on Italian soil - Bolzano, Trento, Padua, Orvieto and then Rome. Thus, with a kind of ante litteram guidebook, the route defined as via Romea Germanica - more than 2,000 km long between Germany and Italy - was being created. Of these just under 100 touch Trentino, in a route that connects Cadino di San Michele all'Adige to Grigno in Valsugana and then passes into Veneto.
The route thus becomes an experience that acquaints you "pilgrim" with fundamental aspects of an area such as nature and culture without forgetting, of course, the taste! Along the Via Romea Germanica you will thus have the opportunity to stop at the associates of the Trentino Wine and Food Trail to build a Cammino del gusto to be discovered step by step!
The products not to be missed on this Taste Trail are Teroldego Rotaliano, Trentodoc, Trentino Grappa, Zambana White Asparagus, apples, small fruits and Valsugana Spin Corn.

Surely this is the most complex stage: beyond the length in fact, the elevation gain is important since it will be the route that will allow you to leave the Adige Valley and enter Valsugana. From the panoramic point of view, the view will be remarkable: from the vineyards passing through the last hamlets of Trento, interspersed with vegetable gardens and orchards you will cross some paths immersed in the forest and then you will be able to admire the view of Valsugana.
