From the subway station, Oberbirgerstrasse leads directly to the Perlacher Forest and continues straight south through the forest. Just before Oberhaching, the path goes once under the S-Bahn line and then remains on the western side along the line.
We follow the road parallel to the railway line through Oberhaching, pass the Deisenhofen S-Bahn station, until we leave the town behind.
Then we leave the railway line and turn right (see map) heading south through the Deisenhofen Forest.
At the end of the forest, we arrive in Altkirchen.
After Altkirchen, we continue on the road and walk through Kleineichenhausen, Großeichenhausen, Gumpertsham, Baiernrain, Lochen, Schlickenried.
From there, we continue on forest paths towards Ried. After Ried, the road continues to Dietramzell. In the town, we walk into the valley, pass the large church, turn left, and then a street ("Am Weiherfeld") immediately goes uphill on the right. The next destination is the beautiful church in the forest, Maria-Elend.
After this church, there is a lovely hilly forest. I recommend checking the route on the Outdoor Active app map, because at the so-called "Grüne Marter" (see map), shortly before a large antenna, we briefly took a wrong path and came back. This detour can be avoided.
The forest path continues through the woods, mostly shortening the forest roads.
Shortly before the so-called "Wampenmoos" we return to the forest road heading south, at the next intersection we turn left towards "Stubenbach".
From Stubenbach, the road goes directly to the monastery; it is the last kilometer!
At the monastery hill, you can rest, attend the holy mass and then go to the beer garden.
The holy mass is celebrated every day at 7:15, except Sundays (7:30) (Reference: https://www.erzbistum-muenchen.de/pfarrei/st-andreas-sachsenkam/cont/75470)
Therefore, it is recommended to pilgrimage at night, for example starting at 22:00 from Mangfallplatz in Munich.
Good path!
