Pilgerwege Deutschland
The Jakobsweg Nuremberg-Ulm connects the Jakobsweg nodes Nuremberg and Ulm and offers the possibility to continue from there via Switzerland towards Santiago de Compostela.
The Jakobsweg Nuremberg-Ulm was opened by the German St. James Society in 1996. In Nuremberg, it is the continuation of the Jakobswegs coming from the north and east via Almerswind, Hof and Tillyschanz. In Ulm it offers the possibility to continue on to Konstanz. It follows (wherever reasonable) an old, historically (mainly by Nuremberg merchants of the Middle Ages) documented pilgrimage route and crosses the regions of Nuremberg, the Franconian hill and lake district, the towns of Gunzenhausen on Lake Altmühl and Oettingen. It then continues over the Swabian Alb and the Nördlingen Ries to Ulm.
The Jakobsweg passes numerous churches and chapels dedicated to James the Greater and is consistently marked with the yellow shell on blue background and crossed pilgrim staffs.
