French Way. Stage 7. Los Arcos - Logroño
Viando
The route of this seventh stage goes from Los Arcos to Logroño, leaving behind Navarra and leading the walker into La Rioja. The stage ends in its capital, Logroño.
In general, this stage runs along dirt tracks and, on entering Logroño, along paved pedestrian lanes. The first objective of the day will be Sansol, from where you descend to the Linares river valley and then ascend to Torres del Río. There it is almost mandatory to visit the Romanesque church of the Holy Sepulchre (visits 9:00-13:00), of Templar origin and built in the 12th century. Between this town and Viana the terrain becomes more abrupt, with some steep descents to pay attention to. In the end, you reach Viana among vineyards, olive groves, almond trees and abandoned villages. The path rises to the old town and the church of Santa María. From this point the Camino descends to the city of Logroño, leaving the community of Navarra to enter La Rioja. The entrance to Logroño is made by crossing the stone bridge over the Ebro river, the largest river of the French Way and one of the most important on the Iberian Peninsula.
