Pilgerwege Spanien
It is a phenomenon of the "Camino Francés" that not only do the catering and accommodation options along the main route develop, become well known and thus also more expensive, but this connection also works in the opposite way: where inexpensive catering and accommodation options develop, path variants also emerge, which become known and also "take a slice of the cake." The "Irache variant" is also part of this and is successful.
On the way to Estella, the main route passes through the town of Villatuerta, where the "Irache variant" branches off, stays to the left of the main route, "leaves Estella on the right," and only strongly approaches the main axis again in the "Irache" area, but ultimately only rejoins the main Camino Francés route shortly before Los Arcos. Along this path, we also repeatedly cross the A-12 and the N-111.
