The Boniface Route is a pilgrimage and hiking trail established in 2004, 172 km long, following the path of the funeral procession of Saint Boniface from Mainz to his desired resting place in Fulda.[1] On July 10, 2004, to mark the 1250th anniversary of the transfer of the body in 754, the route was officially opened with a subsequent two-week first hike.
