Schloss Stein route
Hohe Tauern - die Nationalpark-Region in Kärnten Tourismus GmbH Verified partner
Along the route, below Schloss Stein, lies the natural monument Wacholderhain. This is a group of tree-shaped junipers on the slope below Schloss Stein and represents a very rare type of vegetation, which is actually not found in this form in our region and is therefore protected.
Schloss Stein is a well-preserved rock castle on a steep rock about 200 meters above the valley floor. Built in the late 12th century, it was owned in 1190 by a ministerial servant of Ortenburg. It was first mentioned in documents in 1440 as the property of the Counts of Cilli and then in 1456 as the possession of Emperor Frederick III. In 1500 it came into the possession of the Graben zum Stein family, who held it until 1668. Currently, the castle complex is owned by the Orsini-Rosenberg family and is not publicly accessible.

Stretching & loosening exercises:
Stretching makes your muscles more elastic and increases your flexibility. Best to stretch after sports. Don’t overdo it, a pleasant “pull” is enough, stretch only as long as it feels good! Important: Avoid stretching if you have muscle soreness or injuries!
