Vital routes / terrain therapy paths

In the Kneipp spa town of Gemünd, three Vital routes (terrain therapy paths) are signposted. The concept of terrain therapy describes the combination of light movement over a longer period under favorable climate conditions in an appealing environment. This trains the heart and circulatory system, reduces stress, strengthens the immune system, and promotes health and relaxation.

All three Vital routes have been scientifically measured from a sports science perspective and under load climate aspects. The paths can be used for Nordic walking, but also for walking or jogging. The routes show different lengths and climate factors and offer optimal conditions for beginners and advanced users.

    Red Route

Requirements based on the path: medium

     Description of the route clockwise:
Our route starts at the Tourist Information in the National Park Gate Gemünd. First, it goes along the Urft to Katharinenhof and then further over Marienplatz. From the roundabout, we follow the signpost with the red / black marking on the left side of the street "Alter Römerweg".

We cross Aachener Straße and turn directly from the street "Braubach" onto the path into the forest. After a short ascent, it goes along a natural path at the forest edge. At the end of the forest path, an asphalt road first leads downhill and then uphill through the settlement into the next forest section.

From here, it continues on a gravel surface gently uphill along the edge of the forest through the Braubach valley. Following the red / black marking, the federal road is crossed after a short winding climb. Then the route leads along wild hedgerows to the cultivated highlands south of Gemünd.

Arriving at the forest edge, we follow the signposting with the red marking. The slightly sloping farm road leads over fields past the arable terraces back to Gemünd.

On Dreiborner Weg, we follow the signpost with the blue / red / black marking northwards, then turn into Urftsee Straße. After crossing the Urft, we follow the streets "In der Streng" and "Im Wingertchen", which lead us along the forest edge to the youth hostel. From here, an asphalt road first goes uphill. Then we turn right at the second junction and follow the forest path into the Eifel National Park (please be sure to observe the path regulations!). At the Gemünd outdoor swimming pool, we cross the Urft and reach our starting point again.
