The trail leads past the sandbar. It was built as a token of gratitude to the many volunteers who helped during the once-in-a-century flood of 2002. The trail then continues past the campground and through the city forest.

We start at the sign marking the beginning of the Nordic walking trail, right next to the stadium parking lot. We walk along the lakeside path, past the sandbank—also known as the “Blue Bank”—to the Niemegk Monument. From there, we follow the path to the shore of Lake Goitzsche and continue along the path to the “tip.” At the “Spitze,” you’ll have a great view of the lake and the Pouch Peninsula. From there, we’ll continue to the old Goitzschestraße, where we’ll turn onto Goitzschestraße and walk back to the parking lot.
