Hermann-von-Barth-HütteSafety information
At the last crossing (two exposed slabs) it is advisable to secure yourself with a rope. Some pitons are available.Roadbook
We start from the Geierwally parking lot in Elbigenalp. On the road past the Geierwally open-air stage we reach the "Kasermandlsteig", which branches off to the left. Following the path through the forest, we reach the Kasermandl. We leave the managed hut on the right and follow the forest road for a while until we reach the valley station of the material cable car of the Hermann-von-Barth-Hütte. We leave the forest road, follow the signs "Hermann-von-Barth-Hütte" and "Rote Wand" and reach the end of the forest road (called Bärenbad) via a trail. From here the path to the Rote Wand leads right, we keep left towards the Hermann-von-Barth-Hütte. Via the good access path, it goes up to the alpine club hut.
Past the hut, we follow the hiking trail towards the rock faces of the Wolfebnerspitze. To the right of the rock faces, a marked trail leads up to the small saddle. From here the path becomes significantly more demanding. On the east side, there is a rock step that must be climbed. Further on, it goes on an exposed crossing. Anyone carrying a rope should use it here. These two slab bands form the key point of the route. Once overcome, continue following the markings upwards until you reach the summit chimney. Just below the summit, there is another chimney to climb through.
The descent follows the same route.
