The Widderstein is a striking, popular peak in the border region of the Allgäu, Lechtal, and Bregenzerwald. In addition to the standard route, there are numerous climbing routes ranging in difficulty from 3 to 7 and a rappelling route

On the south side, take the marked trail to the Widdersteinhütte (45 min, 2,015 m). After a rest, follow the marked trail to the Widderstein trailhead, then follow the markers to the summit ridge; the route is partially exposed, and it’s another 10 minutes to the summit cross. Descend via the same route back to the starting point, then head toward the Widderstein Hut or back to Hochkrumbach via the Hochalp Pass.
