The Dolomites are very well accessible. A large number of huts have been built. As a rule, these huts can be reached via good paths from the deeply cut valleys.
Once higher up, however, the hiker must prepare for dizzying passages, sometimes supported by steel cables. The Dolomites are, at least in some places, no place for anyone with severe acrophobia!
Due to the relatively low altitude, it is not an area with a lot of snow. However, it is regularly the case that some rock crevices receive so little sun that old, hard snow remains.
The day stages from hut to hut are generally not very long, but on the other hand the area offers many opportunities for activities starting from the hut. An example during this route is the possibility to climb Piz Boè (3150m) from the hut located about three hundred meters lower. It is a route with many contrasts: green valleys, high plateaus of stone, and deeply cut, narrow towers like a castle in the Rosengarten and near the Vajolettürme.
The route starts and ends in St. Christina, in the Gröden Valley (Val Gardena) in Italy. We mostly walk on good paths. Passages secured with steel wire must be overcome regularly.
One time a bus transfer changes the mountain group.
Wearing a helmet on this route is necessary due to danger of falling rocks
