Selected alternatives for you
In this video, I take you on a tour of our favorite via ferrata at Lake Garda, the Via Ferrata Che Guevara near Arco. In our eyes, it is the most beautiful route. Of course, that is debatable, and if it is not the most beautiful route, it is definitely the longest in the region.

The route has a maximum difficulty of C, and only at two short sections directly after the start and towards the end of the route. The actual challenge lies in the length. In total, you have to overcome about 1400 meters in altitude, followed by a sometimes steep and long descent back to the parking lot. Therefore, the tour should only be undertaken by those who can easily manage tours of such length. It is best to start the route as early as possible to avoid the midday sun and perhaps not during the hot summer months.

I parked in the free parking lot in Pietramurata in the industrial area on Via Collungo. There is also a signpost that leads to the start of the route.

At first, you proceed comfortably on a narrow path about 60 meters in elevation and approximately 800 meters to the actual start of the via ferrata. Here you have enough space to put on the via ferrata gear. Now, the first section goes directly along the rope. Here you also face the technically hardest section of the route, with difficulty grade C. Additionally, the rock here is still quite slippery, making a via ferrata set useful. As you progress, the terrain becomes very grippy.

Once past the C section, the difficulty alternates between A and B and occasionally includes a short walking stretch over rock slabs and small pine forests to continue ascending. Navigation is very simple, and the route is always well marked. Getting lost should be almost impossible here.

In the upper third, the walking sections increase, and at the end, there is a very short and slightly overhanging C section. After that, you continue on foot upwards until you reach the summit plateau of Monte Casale (1631 m). Just below the summit, there is a small refuge if you want to stop for a break.

For descending, there are several options, but we always take the following. From the refuge, head north following the signs towards Sarche, initially moderately, then increasingly steep downhill. Here and there, the path is quite slippery. At the junction at about 1300 meters in altitude, keep right and follow trail 427 towards Sarche until you meet a wider forest road at approximately 900 meters altitude. Simply continue on trail 427 towards Sarche until you finally reach the road SS237. Here you come out directly at a rest area where there has been a small snack stand for years. Continue straight until the curve shortly after the tunnel and cross it. Marks can be found on the trees. Then follow a narrow path again until you essentially reach the front yard of a house marking the path's end. Now just continue on path 427 heading south, directly along the Sarca river, until after about 2.3 km you return to the parking lot.

Now enjoy watching and hiking along.
