Alm, stream, lake, and mountain
- all bear the same name. The Upikopf is an easy high summit in Matsch.
From the Almhotel Glieshof (1807 m), always following the marker 9 on a wide path through forest and grassland, in about one hour up to the Upiaalm (2225 m) and then on a moderately steep mountain path further to the outflow of the Upisee (2552 m; about 2 hours from the starting point). Here – and not only at the eastern inflow of the lake! – leave the main path on the left, on the mountain side, partly on trail traces, partly off-trail, following marker 9 over the striking grassy ridge up to the foot of the actual mountain structure; continue laboriously on steep rocky and rugged trail traces with marker 9 up, then less steep on a good path along the easily walkable southwest ridge of the mountain to the summit rocks and over boulders to the highest point (3175 m); from Upisee just under 2 hours – descent as ascent
