UNESCO high trail Bettmerhorn–Eggishorn
The name fits this route: after all, on this hike we are right in the middle of the UNESCO World Heritage Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch. However, the UNESCO high trail is no ordinary high route. It is an alpine hiking trail, marked white-blue-white and equipped with wire ropes. Before the hike, you can take a look into the "Glacier World Bettmerhorn." The multimedia exhibition is located directly at the cable car station. Various scenes transport visitors back to the second half of the 19th century when researchers and tourists began to discover the Great Aletsch Glacier. Children can join a round tour with an expedition and puzzle booklet. Outside, on the "Ice Terrace," information boards explain the secrets of the Great Aletsch Glacier. For example, that stresses also have consequences in the ice and that there are indeed living beings on the glacier surface: the glacier fleas.
