The Tržič mountain trail was designed in spring 1991. The 60-kilometer circular route passes 10 control points, and a hiker with suitable physical condition can complete the route in 5 to 6 days. Successful completion is recorded by stamps in your logbook, but personal satisfaction comes mainly from the beautiful mountain nature and wonderful views.

If you want to walk the Tržič mountain trail in one go, you will need five to six days. The route, also called T24, is considered the most difficult mountain ultramarathon in Slovenia. The entire route should be run in 24 hours. A competition was organized years ago, now only the best-prepared individuals take on nearly 7000 meters of elevation difference. Although mountain runners take shortcuts or goat paths, finishing under 15 hours is a remarkable achievement.
For us, however, there will certainly be no rush, and we will enjoy quiet forests, flowering mountain meadows, and scenic rocky peaks.
Author’s recommendation
The best time to visit the Tržič mountain trail is from June to September, when mountain huts are open where you can stay overnight.
